Warriors Defeat Boston 52-0

Cambridge, MA–The traveling Warriors were ruthless as they easily crushed a hapless Boston outfit at home.

The Warriors had too much early ball possession, and it wasn’t long before Boston found themselves struggling to keep up with defending the continued attacks. Chris Yergan earned the Warriors Man of the Match with his damaging runs throughout the game. The Warriors have won the last two games but will be tested this week against a red hot Slayers team.

Warriors 2011 Imports

The Warriors have picked up hooker Taruean Sheehan for the 2011 season.

Taurean is originally from New Zealand and currently playing out of Perth, Australia. He played two seasons for the re-formed Western Australia Reds in the Bundaberg Cup Competition, captaining the team in 2009. In 2010 he played locally for the Joondalup Giants, his junior club. Subsequently, he went on to tour with the state rep team, as well as with the Australian Affiliated States team during a tour to Samoa.

While with WA, Sheehan played alongside former Warriors hooker Matthew Doeg following the completion of the USA 2008 season, which saw the Doeg and Warriors win a national championship.

Sheehan is currently playing for Rochdale Mayfield in Manchester with another Warriors recruit for 2011: former Boston 13′s player Andrew ‘Suzy’ Moroney. Taurean will run at hooker for the Warriors, with Maroney at front row. Joining Sheehan and Moroney will be James McGowan, also hailing from the WA Reds, who will run in the forward pack alongside Suzy.

The Warriors camp is on a mission this year.  ”We want the inaugural USARL Championship!” says Warriors CEO Adam Hamon. Their first opponent in Round 1 of the USARL domestic competition is the team that that beat them in the 2010 Grand Final – the Jacksonville Axmen.

The rematch of last year’s title game is scheduled to be played on June 4 at the UNF Stadium in Jacksonville, Florida.
